Our Incubators

The Darebin Enterprise Centre (DECL) was one of the first business incubators in Melbourne, and has operated as a not-for-profit organisation since 1997.

In this time we have provided facilities, mentoring and business support to an extensive array of start up and small businesses in Melbourne. The social benefits of our incubation programs include generating new business, creating employment, and supporting the local economy.

We currently have three facilities in operation:

  • DECL (General purpose business incubator in Alphington)
  • artDECL (Creative and Digital Arts Incubator in Northcote)
  • The Station (Coworking Space in Northcote)
  • Banyule digiDECL (Coworking Space in Heidelberg West)

Banyule digiDECL in partnership with Australia Post and City of Banyule.

We also have an an Indigenous business incubator that we run out of our Alphington site.

The general purpose incubator sits on interesting land. In 1906, the ground beneath us was quarried for bluestone, which continued through until 1963 when the site became the Alphington tip. The tip closed in 1975, and significant efforts were made to restore and revegetate the land. In 1997, council decided to utilise the site and establish a business incubator to assist with economic growth. We’ve been supporting small business ever since.
